My decision to break away from CD products with hope

I have a heavy heart to release this statement as metal supporter but my decision to break away from CD products is pretty steady.

As some metal bands and metal friends of mine know, I had been putting my huge efforts for distribution stuff for a long time to bring my beloved underground metal bands' beautiful music to Japan. There were many struggles and obstacles to make it possible without taking any benefit from the activity but that was my true will (to remove middlemen who get paid) and I had been motivated and determined for what I was doing. Actually I keep shouting how I hate subscription-based music service like Spotify, Apple Music or whatever coz I somehow feel there is less respect for beautiful arts and for its creators. I know some metal people obviously disagree with that but this isn't a criticism of your behavior, just my honest feeling for the system and I can say it triggered to put myself intensively into the distro activity.
Metal music never work as a background music (like the music at cafe) coz my all attention points toward the music no matter what I'm doing, coz metal music is my passion. Maybe you say you enjoy Spotify and also pay for each albums you are interested in, but it doesn't matter. Many other people must be using Spotify for random-play without noticing what the song is or who created it. As an enthusiastic metal lover, it's hard to accept that situation coz those arts must be blood sweat and tears of its artists. So, I'm sure I will not use the service forever.

Okay, this is a different story from the main topic of my statement. To get back to what I wanted to say in this post, it's all about the planet earth.
I'm vegan, animal lover and I've been seriously concerning about our planet earth by the rapid climate change as if there is nothing can stop its collapsing speed. We, the human race is the only organic being which never play a part of the natural ecosystem on this mother earth, Gaia. We aren't a part of the ecological chain but keep acting as if we place the highest in the chain. But even worse, we have been producing and scattering huge numbers of polluted things all over all the time and victims are always other inhabitants on her. We are the one and only vermin, destroyers of the planet. We should stop being as villains right away and should take actions to make the world for the better. We should stop making sea turtles suffocated by plastic bags we threw away. Reducing plastic products is obviously important and we seriously need to work hard for that. Probably many of you use your own shopping-bag to avoid expendable plastic bags, do you? Yes I do as well. I also use a water bottle and a thermo-bottle at work, I cook vegan lunch everyday and put it in my favorite lunch box and so on... but it's not enough or rather lukewarm. Well, when it comes to SGDs, the Government of Japan doesn't work at all, even a bit... it's a total disaster I can say. It's obvious they only take care of economic growth, never stop running nuclear power plants, never forbid hunting marine sentient beings, never diminish the livestock agriculture, never take care of gas emissions and keep producing plastics for almost everything. One of the embarrassing facts in Japan is that it's really hard to avoid plastic packages at grocery and commodity stores. If you want to change this awful situation first and foremost, you shouldn't just wait and see coz you can't rely on the greedy government at all but there's no time left for saving the animals and the beautiful nature. When I was thinking about what I can do for eco-friendly living within my current environment and was looking around my room, my eyes quickly caught the epic CD towers of mine. It was beautifully packed with metal discs and I loved what I can see. It's all about my favorite music but wait... those physical objects mainly contain PLASTIC! Jewel cases are disaster. When you remove its booklet, only the plastic material remains. I remembered one of my struggles in my distro work was the jewel case. It's easily broke via aerial transportation. So I had to buy empty jewel case bundles by myself over again and had to replace the broken cases to new ones for delivering the items to a retail company. Yes, I had been paying for polluting the world. How about digipak? Is it just eco-friendly? Most of the digipak products have a plastic holder inside as long as there's no pocket for a disk. Compact discs itself mainly contain plastic anyway. If you keep buying CD format products, more CDs will be put into production and the cycle never ends. Eventually, I decided to quit my distro activity and quit buying CD format products anymore. No pain, no gain. It doesn't mean I quit a metal supporter anyway. My passion for metal music will be everlasting and I keep buying metal albums such as digital format via iTunes store or bandcamp. I'm gonna miss booklets so much though. I really love booklets. You can fully soak into an album together with its booklet as you know.

Last of all, I don't say avoiding CD products can save the world. It's not a drastic solution, it would be just a microscopic step but one of the actions you can easily start to make it better.
And needles to say, it's not a criticism for artists nor metal fans. We are on the same side. I always feel huge gratitude from the bottom of my heart for my favorite bands for their incredible music! This post never be my moaning, it's a positive statement for a better future. Each of us need to take care of our one and only planet earth seriously and should do anything you can do immediately. It can never be the reason to do nothing because you think you can't do it perfect. No one can do it perfect but much better than do nothing. Small things add up to make a big difference. Cheers.
