Soulbound Introduction of the band members

Okay let’s go back on May, I had an interview with the band and they introduced themselves to all metalheads in the world about their musical history and more with some funny snap shots.

Johnny: Vocals / Shouts
Felix:Let's start with our frontman.Johnny is our singer and shouter, but let us listen to his angle-like voice.

Johnny: My career as a musician started when I was 4 years old. Back then I was a professional baby-food-can-thrasher! This extremely successful career - of course - continued... I started playing the piano and the trumpet. I also learned classical- and pop-rock-singing and passed a choral director education. The first three bands I was in were called Dreaded Dream, Oceanmachine and last but not least: Supermaniax, a pop-rock-project. Since then, I wanted to be on stage, always, 24/7!

But I've never thought about being the guy who makes a fool of himself in the front of the stage. I wanted to be there where Mario is sitting now, behind a friggin' drum-set! But honestly? I'm pretty happy with being who I am now, entertaining the crowd, giving the energy to them that I'm achieving by makin' music with those awesome people who I'm lucky to call my friends and band members:-)! The thing that keeps me going is thenergy that we invest into this band, which we're getting from the audience at our concerts and of course which we're giving back to them as well! We want people to take a positive message back home from our gigs, we want to make them to feel an emotion when listening to our music, cause that's what music
is about!

Felix:Lead Guitar
Johnny:Let's go on with our buddy Felix, the catering-killer! When his jaw muscles aren't busy with chewing OUR food and he hasn't got a big yellow building-site helmet on his head, he's playing the lead guitar for Soulbound. Let's listen to what he wants to tell us.

Felix: I started getting' into music by trying out the violin for 10 years, I also took lessons, and if this wasn't enough, I also started playing the trumpet, (just like Johnny, maybe we should start something new in this direction). After those years I picked up the guitar and I totally fell in love with it. I'm getting my musical inspirations from a wide range of awesome musicians, such as: Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, Wolfgang Petri, some Swedish guitarists (well, most of them are ;-) ) and also from classical music. And by the way, I can smash my guitar only using my pinky! I do Karate and Kung Fu! Beware! Ah, one more thing, when I'm not on stage and when my guitar is not in my hands, I've a great hobby which thankfully I can share with my drummer Mario: eating, eating and burping till death, damn right!

Got injured in his neck by Kung Fu, but he played at a gig and enjoyed it :D

Jens: Guitar / Backing-Vocals
Johnny: So here we have Jens! Jens is playing rhythm guitar and he is doing the backing vocals. But let him introduce himself.

Jens: I can't really say when I started makin' music, pretty much ever since I can remember. I played the drums for about 8 years, I also did some gigs with a few Top 40 Bands. After some time I picked up the guitar, which I've played for 6 years now. I also acquired some musical experience by singin' in a gospel-choir, that was pretty fun. I'm inspired by many music-genres, I listen to a lot of Blues and Jazz-Stuff, there's really great music out there btw :-). For me, there's no bad music and that's exactly the reason why I couldn't ever imagine a life without making music or being on stage!

Jonas: Bass
Johnny: Let's introduce our little band-diva (every band needs one), it's Jonas, our Rapunzel (a princess, who is closed up in a tower with long long blond hair). When he is not brushing his teeth or combing his hair, he is playing the bass guitar for Soulbound.

Jonas:Well, I started making music when I was 4 years old. I played the flute and the chimes in a group of young children, but somehow my father's guitar seemed much more cooler! I tried it out but I've never gotten really into playing it, it just wasn't the instrument I wanted to play. One lucky day my uncle decided to put a bass-guitar in my room while i was half asleep ( I don't really know if that really matters but that's just how it went ;-) ).

I think I was somewhere about 13 years old at that time. That's how I found the instrument that I really wanted to play. I've never had a teacher but it worked out pretty well and within a couple of years I started to have some major success with my first band "one of those moments". After we split up the local guitar center talked me into getting to know the guys from Soulbound. I love playing gigs with my boys, there's nothing more better than that. I just love seeing the crowd partying in front of us (Circle Pits!!!) and completely loose their mind! I love to move on the stage. Currently the windmill-headbang is my favorite move, just fuckin' awesome! :-) Right now, I just can't wait to get our EP finished, so that all people over the world can enjoy our music! Horns Up!

Mario:Drums
Johnny: Last but not least, the man who keeps us gang of little rascals on stage together is Mario, our drum-machine.

Mario:When I was like 6 years old, I was pestering my parents about drums, so they got me a drum-set. looked for a teacher and started taking lessons. I used to play percussions in my music-school's big band. I had a lot of fun back then, great memories :-)! When I 10 years old, I got my hands on Metallica's Album "Master of Puppets". From then on, I wanted to be Lars Ulrich.

Mario:I quit the big band, looked for a new drum teacher and started doing my thing. I started looking for a band when I was about 15 years old, I started out in a real crappy rehearsing room with a few friends of mine. We've never played any concerts, but from then on I was panting for being in a band. I raked into a local music magazine, where a band called 'Soulbound' was looking for a drummer. And that's how I met your mother! Just kidding ;-)! Of course that's how I met Johnny, Jens, Felix and Jonas, four awesome musicians and of course, meanwhile, four great friends! Besides drumming, I've 3 major hobbies, which I could never live without.

Mario:I love to go to the gym, I love to kill a whole catering-buffet together with Felix and afterwards ask him: "Dude, I'm still hungry, let's get a Pizza" and last but not least: laughing. If something is not even remotely funny, I end up laying on the ground for about half an hour and just laughing myself silly while other people standing around, just looking at each other, thinking: "What the hell is wrong with that guy?" Towards the buffet!

How do you feel about their spirited introductions? :D I guess now you can feel more familiar with Soulbound, right? Well, I’m really looking forward to listen to their upcoming EP “Towards The Sun” and I’ve heard that it’s almost there :D
